PALM DESERT, CA - The Central Division All-Stars claimed the 2025 AHL All Star Challenge championship Monday in the Coachella Valley by way of a shootout victory over the Atlantic Division All-Stars in the final game of the 3-on-3 tournament.
Kevin Korchinski (one goal, three assists, game-winning SO goal) of the Rockford IceHogs was named the event's MVP.
"I got to play hockey with some of the guys, and just have fun," Korchinski said after the championship win. "Kind of feel like a kid again. It was a lot of fun."
Each Division won a game in the opening four games of the night, creating a win and you're in situation for the final two games which saw the two Eastern Conference divisions (Atlantic and North) battle each other and the Western Conference divisions face off (Central and Pacific).
Atlantic and North played it tight, with Dalibor Dvorsky and Owen Pickering scoring goals to advance the Atlantic Division to the championship game.
Meanwhile, Pacific jumped out to a 2-0 lead but the Central Division All-Stars rallied for five unanswered goals - started by a pair of goals from Austin Watson - to unseat the Pacific Division All-Stars from having a chance to three-peat at the All-Star Challenge.
