The AHL's Development Rule And How it Affects Free Agency
To understand what you see below, also understanding the development rule in the AHL will allow to get a grasp for what goes into constructing an AHL roster and the balance between prospects and veterans, with of course the ultimate goal being to develop in a winning environment.
Of the 18 skaters (not counting two goaltenders) that teams may dress for a game, at least 13 must be qualified as “development players.” Of those 13, 12 must have played in 260 or fewer professional games (including AHL, NHL and European elite leagues), and one must have played in 320 or fewer professional games. All calculations for development status are based on regular-season totals as of the start of the season.

Top Ten Goaltenders
1. Scott Wedgewood (Rochester)48GP, 28-14-2, 2.68 GAA, .908 SV%, 5 SOWhile Alex Nedeljkovic (Charlotte) and Shane Starrett (Bakersfield) stole the spotlight in terms of attention with their stellar seasons, Wedgewood was one of the top goalies in the AHL in the regular season in 2018-19. The seven-year pro is a textbook organizational number three goaltender that can be an NHL backup or help steer a young goalie in the AHL.
2. Dustin Tokarski (Hartford/Charlotte)28GP, 17-6-2, 2.58 GAA, .914 SV%, 2 SOAfter being loaned to AHL Charlotte near the trade deadline, Tokarski proved to be quite the late-season addition for the Calder Cup Champions. Tokarski went 7-0-0 in Charlotte to conclude the regular season in addition to a perfect 5-0 record in the postseason. Where Tokarski lands next will be interesting to watch from an AHL perspective.
3. Zane McIntyre (Providence)46GP, 25-14-7, 2.59 GAA, .898 SV%, 2 SOMcIntyre is a guy you can lean on to carry the load at the AHL level and be able to be an NHL backup with the ring of a phone call.
4. Andrew Hammond (Iowa)33GP, 19-12-2, 2.81 GAA, .910 SV%, 3 SORemember that NHL debut season in Ottawa where he was 20-1-2 in his first 25 games? He's not quite at the same level he was in the Senators organization five years ago, but the veteran did seem to have a bounceback year in the AHL in 2018-19 with Iowa - nearly eclipsing the 20-win mark in just 33 appearances and getting back to playing in the AHL postseason for the first time since the 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs.
5. Jean-Francois Berube (Cleveland)43GP, 21-17-5, 3.01 GAA, .896 SV%, 0 SOBerube sustained a injury in late March that was considered long term when Inside AHL Hockey's Mark Scheig inquired about his status. The 27-year-old has fluctuated between the NHL and AHL previously, and has long since proven he can be an AHL starter and handle the regular workload when healthy.
6. Adam Wilcox (Rochester)28GP, 13-8-5, 2.82 GAA, .896 SV%, 0 SOWilcox played second fiddle to Wedgewood in Rochester, but has been a consistent sub-3.00 GAA, .900 SV% goalie at the AHL level in 133 career AHL games.
7. Maxime Legace (Chicago)33GP, 16-10-6, 2.43 GAA, .914 SV%, 1 SOLegace formed a formidable duo with Oscar Dansk this season, and while Dansk had a better season there's no reason not to think that Legace can be an organizational #3 goalie that can handle a regular starters workload in the AHL in 2019-20.
8. Tom McCollum (Milwaukee)34GP, 12-10-10, 2.72 GAA, .899 SV%, 2 SOMcCollum has spent most of his AHL career with Grand Rapids, but followed up a 20-win season in 2017-18 as a 1B to Troy Grosenick in Milwaukee last year. If not for some better luck - looking specifically at a combined TEN overtime/shootout losses - McCollum would've been near the 20-win mark again. Career numbers say he's still a top-tier option in net at the AHL level -- 147-117-23, 2.72 GAA, .907 SV% and 11 shutouts in 315 AHL appearances.
9. John Muse (W-B/Scranton)10GP, 6-4-0, 3.00 GAA, .906 SV%, 2 SOThe Penguins rode Tristan Jarry (47 games) last season, and Anthony Peters seemingly found himself ahead of Muse on the depth chart. Still, Muse led the WBS Penguins with two shutouts in his 10 AHL appearances in 2018-19. Will be two years removed from a 11-2-1 stint with Lehigh Valley entering next season, but still a more than serviceable AHL goaltender coming off of earning his first NHL contract. Could be a darkhorse type that could come in and win 20 games in 2019-20 given the chance in the right situation on an AHL squad.
10. Hunter Miska (Tucson)25GP, 10-8-4, 3.08 GAA, .895 SV%, 0 SOMiska didn't receive a qualifying offer from Arizona and will become a free agent on July 1st.
Top 30 Defensemen
1. Ethan Prow (W-B/Scranton)74GP, 18G-32A, +26, 22 PIMThe Penguins' All-Star representative also ended up leading the team in scoring. Prow has a great shot and really good offensive instincts. Scored nine goals at even strength last season, so more than just a power play specialist.

John Gilmour (Hartford)70GP, 20G-34A, -11, 31 PIMThe offensive juggernaut on the blue line ended up leading Hartford in scoring when it was all said and done, and 2nd in the AHL among defensemen just one point behind Hershey's Aaron Ness. At the AHL level, an elite offensive defenseman that can put a team over the top.
3. Aaron Ness (Hershey) - V71GP, 5G-50A, +24, 40 PIMThe ultimate puck distributor at the AHL level, Ness led all defensemen in the league in scoring last season. Could be an instant shot in the arm for an AHL team's defense core heading into 2019-20.

7. Tommy Cross (Cleveland) - V73GP, 7G-27A, -13, 71 PIMThe longtime Providence Bruins captain fared well in the AHL on a one-year deal in the Columbus Blue Jackets organization. The veteran could be of assistance to an AHL club lacking depth and experience on the back end.

Chris Wideman (W-B/Scranton & Springfield) - V19GP, 3G-10A, -2, 12 PIMWideman was traded three times in a span of three months from Thanksgiving to Valentine's Day, but if he ends up in the AHL in 2019-20 he'll be one of the top-tier offensive threats in the league. His last two full AHL seasons produced a combined 112 points.
10. Ryan Sproul (Hershey/Laval/Toronto) - V64GP, 10G-19A, -2, 16 PIMSproul bounced around to start 2018-19, on a PTO with Toronto to a PTO with Laval before landing an AHL contract with Hershey in early December. At the AHL level, Sproul is an offensively minded right-handed shooting defenseman with a good shot and power play abilities.
~~11. Jordan Murray (Belleville)~~ 54GP, 9G-17A, -2, 38 PIMEDIT: RE-SIGNED A ONE-YEAR AHL CONTRACT WITH BELLEVILLE.A second strong AHL season in the Senators organization for Murray following four years at the University of New Brunswick (USports). Obvious offensive flare, perhaps a good depth AHL signing for a team this summer if not re-signed by the Senators.
12. Ryan Murphy (Binghamton/Iowa) - V58GP, 3G-22A, -14, 20 PIMGot games in at the NHL and AHL level on two different organizations after a mid-season trade from Minnesota saw the veteran defender finish the season with the New Jersey Devils organization. He wasn't tendered a qualifying offer by New Jersey.
13. Ryan Stanton (Bakersfield) - V65GP, 5G-15A, +20, 76 PIMAn experienced defender that could be a welcomed addition to a young D-core at the AHL level.
14. Zac Leslie (Chicago)67GP, 2G-14A,+4, 32 PIMLeslie was a mainstay on the Wolves' blue line in 2018-19 and was part of a strong, young and talented defense core this past season.
15. Stuart Percy (Providence/Belleville) - V55GP, 3G-21A, -1, 32 PIMPercy is a solid AHL-level two-way defenseman, but he has now been on five different teams in the last four years. Where will he land in 2019-20?
16. Chris Bigras (Hartford)52GP, 3G-19A, +5, 36 PIMThe pending RFA won't be given a qualifying offer by the New York Rangers.
17. Julian Melchiori (Springfield) - V54GP, 6G-6A, Even, 49 PIMMelchiori is a solid AHL-level defenseman capable of logging big minutes and taking some pressure off the younger, more raw defensemen adjusting to life in the AHL.
18. Vincent LoVerde (Toronto) - V68GP, 3G-8A, -2, 33 PIMNot as many goals in 2018-19 for the veteran puck-mover, but on a Marlies team with young studs on the blue line it was certainly a lesser role for LoVerde this past season. Still a very capable experienced two-way guy at the AHL level.
19.Chris Butler (San Antonio) - V51GP, 2G-19A, -3, 40 PIMThe veteran defender is a must-have for a team needing depth behind a young D-core of prospects on their AHL squad.
20. Michael Kapla (Iowa/Binghamton)66GP, 2G-22A, -14, 14 PIMAcquired by Minnesota in a mid-season trade with New Jersey, Kapla wasn't tendered a qualifying offer by the Wild.
21. Erik Burgdoerfer (Belleville) - V64GP, 5G-13A, +18, 44 PIMBelleville's captain last season, Burgdoerfer has been a consistent 20-point AHL defenseman that plays a more well-rounded game. Counts against the AHL's development rule and is considered a "veteran" moving into 2019-20.
22. Nate Prosser (Iowa) - V37GP, 1G-7A, -1, 20 PIMProsser has spent all nine years of his pro career in the Minnesota Wild organization, and the veteran has become a reliable organizational #8/9 blue liner that has appeared in more NHL games in his career (354) than AHL (127) entering 2019-20. Could be a great vet addition on the back end for an AHL squad.
23. Griffin Reinhart (Chicago) - V/E75GP, 4G-12A, -8, 27 PIMThe #4 overall pick in 2012 appears to be searching for a new home after two years with the Chicago Wolves following his selection by Vegas in the expansion draft.
24. Matt Tennyson (Rochester) - V47GP, 4G-17A, -8, 42 PIMTennyson managed a four-game NHL stint with the Sabres this season, and was a top-four defender for their AHL affiliate in Rochester this past season.
25. Chris Breen (Providence) - V47GP, 2G-9A, +8, 38 PIMThe big, physical stay-at-home defender uses his 6-foot-7 frame to make life difficult for opposing teams' forwards at the net front.
26. Chris Casto (Bridgeport) - V43GP, 4G-9A, +10, 21 PIMA long-time steadying force on the blue line in Providence, Casto bounced from Chicago to Bridgeport over the past two seasons and is still very much a reliable two-way defenseman at the AHL level.
27. Daniel Renouf (Charlotte)74GP, 2G-22A, +13, 121 PIMA solid depth addition for Charlotte last summer, Renouf now has put together three solid AHL campaigns since coming out of the University of Maine as an undrafted free agent.

Top 60 Forwards
1. Daniel Carr (Chicago) - V/E52GP, 30G-41A, +35, 10 PIM The AHL's 2018-19 regular season MVP, Carr dominated the AHL with the Wolves and in a limited season for him to boot. Surefire way to boost the AHL club's forward core with an addition like this, although Carr doesn't want to spend another second in the AHL if he doesn't have to.
2. Andrew Poturalski (Charlotte)72GP, 23G-47A, +16, 34 PIM Poturalski finished fifth in the AHL in scoring in the regular season, and exploded in the playoffs this spring - leading all postseason scorers with 23 points in 18 games. While he aims to make an NHL roster in the fall after he signs his next contract, AHL fans can only hope their team obtains a player of Poturalski's caliber in free agency.
3. T.J. Tynan (Chicago) - V71GP, 12G-59A, +17, 28 PIM Daniel Carr's setup man in Chicago last season, Tynan has been a solid veteran addition to any AHL lineup he's been on. Point-per-game, check. Top-six AHL stud, check.
~~4. Mike Sgarbossa (Hershey) - V~~ 75GP, 30G-35A, -3, 91 PIM EDIT: Sgarbossa re-signed a two-year extension with Washington on 6/29/19The increased offensive role and special teams work with Hershey paid off in spades for Sgarbossa, who had a career year offensively. A sure-fire top-six forward at the AHL level that will jolt your offense.
5. Andrew Agozzino (Colorado) - V56GP, 26G-34A, +12, 67 PIM The veteran forward was an AHL All-Star this past season, and for good reason. He dominated the AHL offensively, and also tallied a goal and an assist in 11 games with the Avalanche in 2018-19.
6. Cal O'Reilly - V67GP, 16G-51A, -2, 14 PIM The Wild's captain the past two seasons put up 64 points two years ago and 67 this season. A veteran playmaker at the AHL level that you pair with a pure sniper and watch the dynamic duo form.
7. Chris Mueller (Toronto) - V60GP, 33G-32A, +8, 32 PIM The veteran sniper hit a career high 33 goals this past season in Toronto. Even at age 33 he's showed no signs of slowing down his offensive production in the AHL. (222 goals, 305 assists in 711 career AHL games
8. Riley Barber (Hershey)64GP, 31G-29A, Even, 84 PIM Barber is two-years removed from his lone NHL stint (three games), but it didn't stop him from tearing up the AHL offensively last season - finishing second on his team in scoring despite playing 11 less games than the Bears' scoring leader Mike Sgarbossa (65 points in 75 games).
9. Matt Moulson (Ontario) - V68GP, 28G-34A, -1, 48 PIM On an NHL contract with Buffalo, but loaned to the Los Angeles Kings' AHL affiliate again this past season where he was again a near point-per-game player at the AHL level.

11. Greg Carey (Lehigh Valley) - V74GP, 29G-32A, -13, 45 PIM Carey is probably one of the top pure goal-scoring free agent at the AHL level. His goal totals, by season, since breaking into the AHL full-time? 26, 28, 31 and 29. He loves to shoot, has a great shot (winner of the AHL All-Stars' 2019 Hardest Shot competition) and was able to adapt without his usual play-making centerman this past season in Lehigh Valley and nearly eclipsed the 30-goal mark for a second straight year.
12. Andy Andreoff (Syracuse) - V75GP, 26G-29A, +12, 150 PIM The longtime Los Angeles Kings forward signed a one-year contract with Tampa Bay and spent his first season in the AHL since 2013-14. Could be a huge pickup for an AHL club if he can't get back in the NHL in 2019-20.

15. Gemel Smith (Providence) - V/E47GP, 16G-24A, +6, 32 PIM Smith was claimed by the Bruins on waivers from Dallas in December, and ended up slipping through to their AHL affiliate in Providence where he was a near point-per-game player.
16. Jordan Szwarz (Providence) - V68GP, 23G-23A, +3, 56 PIM The PBruins' captain has been at a near point-per-game pace in the AHL for the last three years. Three straight 20-goal seasons.
17. Martin Frk (Grand Rapids) - V13GP, 5G-9A, +12, 6 PIM Frk wasn't tendered a qualifying offer from Detroit, so the Czech-born forward becomes a UFA on July 1st. If he sneaks his way back into the AHL, he could be a point-per-game stud on on the right wing.
18. Erik Condra (Texas) - V71GP, 20G-34A, -6, 54 PIM Condra has proven he can play at a high level in the AHL for some time now, dating back recently to his two years as the captain of AHL Syracuse.

21. Chris Conner (Lehigh Valley) - V72GP, 16G-35A, -6, 16 PIM Conner is still an offensive threat at the AHL level, hitting the 50-point mark for the fourth time in his last five years. If not re-signed to another AHL contract by the Phantoms, a great middle-six forward option for a team in need of offensive help.
22. Kerby Rychel (Stockton) - V57GP, 23G-20A, -8, 29 PIM Rychel appears to be on the move again after not being tendered a qualifying offer from Calgary this summer. Strong AHL player that has seen some NHL time over the years.
23. Carter Camper (Grand Rapids) - V67GP, 17G-33A, -1, 24 PIM The longtime AHL scorer is still a top-six threat up front. The smallish forward uses his skating and quickness to his advantage, and has for years.
24. Corey Tropp (San Diego) - V55GP, 20G-20A, -7, 124 PIM Tropp has been a near point-per-game player at the AHL level with San Diego the past three seasons.
25. Nathan Walker (Hershey) - V/E58GP, 17G-22A, -8, 54 PIM The small, but feisty, 5-8 forward has had a few cups of coffee at the NHL level (12 career NHL games), but has been largely an AHL player thus far in his pro career. Walker falls under the "additional veteran who has played more than 260 pro games but less than 320 at the start of the season" category for 2019-20 entering the season with 312 pro games.
26. Ben Street (San Diego) - V32GP, 9G-17A, +7, 6 PIM Street saw NHL time again this season, and continued to dominate the AHL while in the minors.

30. Jayson Megna (Hershey) - V71GP, 20G-23A, -1, 34 PIM Megna has only played in three full AHL seasons in his pro career since his rookie year in the Penguins organization, but two of them have been 20-goal campaigns. 32. Blake Pietila (Binghamton)50GP, 20G-26A, -24, 42 PIM Breakout year offensively for Pietila at the AHL level, doubling his offensive production from last season in 10 less games while also playing 19 games in the NHL with the Devils.
33. Kalle Kossila (San Diego)44GP, 14G-21A, -18, 14 PIM Kossila has been a near point-per-game player at the AHL level in three years since coming out of St. Cloud State (NCAA).
34. Patrick Brown (Charlotte) - V70GP, 19G-16A, +16, 32 PIM A member of the Hurricanes organization his entire pro career spanning the past five years, Brown was the Checkers' captain for the third straight season and helped lead his team to a championship. The tenacious, two-way forward can be trusted in all situations at the AHL level and still has NHL aspirations - racking up 28 career NHL games to date and eight Stanley Cup Playoffs games this spring.
35. Steve Bernier (Bridgeport) - V62GP, 24G-18A, +9, 87 PIM A veteran of almost 900 pro games, including 637 in the NHL, Bernier is proving that even at 34 he's still a more than capable option at the AHL level.
36. Gabriel Dumont (Syracuse) - V59GP, 15G-28A, +29, 67 PIM The Crunch's captain last season, Dumont had another solid year in the AHL although it was his first year without spending any time in the NHL since his rookie season nine years ago.

42. Nick Schilkey (Charlotte)64GP, 15G-22A, +22, 12 PIM The Ohio State standout took major strides forward in his second pro season in Charlotte, tripling his offensive production from his rookie season and gaining valuable experience during the Checkers' championship run this spring.

44. Anthony Louis (Rockford)74GP, 12G-22A, +3, 28 PIM After his two-year ELC expired, Chicago opted not to tender the pending restricted free agent. Some offensive upside in Louis might get snatched up elsewhere in a hurry.

46. Matt Read (Iowa) - V61GP, 16G-21A, -5, 36 PIM Read can be a 14th forward in that he can help be a veteran presence on the AHL squad but also fill in for spot duty in the NHL should mid-season injuries arise.
47. Max McCormick (Colorado/Belleville)45GP, 9G-11A, -5, 60 PIM Moved from Ottawa to Colorado before the trade deadline, McCormick finished the year with the Colorado Eagles.
48. Mike Vecchione (Lehigh Valley)67GP, 15G-23A, -8, 36 PIM A highly sought after college free agent when he came out of Union College, Vecchione has been a somewhat streaky scorer as a pro in two seasons with the Phantoms. With an influx of young talent coming to the pro ranks at the forward position in the Flyers organization, it'll be interesting to see what happens this summer with Vecchione.
49. Daniel Audette (Laval)71GP, 14G-25A, -3, 53 PIM The three-year pro wasn't tendered a qualifying offer from Montreal. Just turned 23 in May, could be a good depth scorer for an AHL club this summer.
50. Jimmy Hayes (W-B/Scranton) - V72GP, 15G-15A, -1, 25 PIM The big, 6-foot-5 forward can be too much to handle when he's on top of his game and using his frame to his advantage. Could be a great middle-six option for an AHL team lacking some size up front.
51. Mitch Callahan (Bakersfield) - V61GP, 15G-19A, +4, 22 PIM Can be a great middle-six veteran forward addition, and a nice complimentary/secondary scoring boost to an AHL lineup.
52. Michael Joly (Colorado)47GP, 15G-15A, -1, 10 PIM Joly followed up a 41-goal season in the ECHL with a solid year in the AHL in 2018-19.
53. Zack Mitchell (Ontario) - V61GP, 15G-16A, -9, 33 PIM Mitchell had bounced between the NHL and AHL in previous years with the Minnesota Wild organization, but spent a full year in the AHL with the Kings' AHL affiliate.
54. Eric Tangradi (Binghamton) - V41GP, 10G-14A, -16, 49 PIM One of the bigger AHL-level free agent acquistions last summer, Tangradi had a bit of a down year offensively on a less-than-stellar Binghamton squad this past season after putting up 31 goals a year prior with Grand Rapids. Nonetheless, a solid power forward for an AHL top-six at this point in his career.
55. Colin Campbell (Grand Rapids) - V63GP, 8G-11A, Even, 24 PIM Campbell has been a solid two-way player for the Griffins for the past five years.
56. Justin Kirkland (Milwaukee)75GP, 9G-21A, -9, 58 PIM Only 22 years old, Kirkland wasn't tendered a qualifying offer following the expiration of his entry-level contract.
57. Matt Mangene (Springfield) - V62GP, 8G-24A, -9, 34 PIM The seven-year pro can play forward as well as defense and has switched back and forth throughout his career. On an AHL contract last season.
58. Justin Bailey (Lehigh Valley/Rochester)54GP, 15G-13A, -4, 30 PIM Traded mid-season from Buffalo to Philadelphia in a minor league swap of forwards (Taylor Leier was sent to Buffalo) Bailey was nicknamed the human yo-yo by many in the Lehigh Valley referring to how many times he was called up and sent down between the NHL and the AHL. Slight surprise that he wasn't tendered a qualifying offer.
59. Marko Dano (Manitoba) - V51GP, 12G-18A, -6, 75 PIM Dano didn't receive a qualifying offer from Winnipeg this summer, making him a UFA on July 1st.
60. Phil Di Giuseppe (Milwaukee/Charlotte) - V26GP, 5G-7A, +6, 25 PIM A 'Quad A' forward that was in his fifth season in the Hurricanes organization when he was claimed off of waivers by Nashville this past season.
Goaltenders
Ken Appleby (Manitoba)10GP, 2-6-0, 3.92 GAA, .884 SV%, 1 SO
Split the season between Manitoba and ECHL Jacksonville. Was not tendered a qualifying offer by Winnipeg
Jean-Francois Berube (Cleveland)43GP, 21-17-5, 3.01 GAA, .896 SV%, 0 SO
Berube sustained a injury in late March that was considered long term when Inside AHL Hockey's Mark Scheig inquired about his status. The 27-year-old has fluctuated between the NHL and AHL previously, and has long since proven he can be an AHL starter and handle the regular workload when healthy.
Evan Buitenhuis (ECHL Worcester)28GP, 10-9-4, 2.37 GAA, .928 SV%, 1 SO
Buitenhuis was on an AHL contract with Bridgeport last season, but stayed in the ECHL with Worcester in 2018-19.
Kevin Carr (ECHL Utah)34GP, 20-9-2, 2.66 GAA, .906 SV%, 3 SO
After a year overseas, Carr returned to North America on an AHL deal with the Colorado Eagles only to spend the season in the ECHL with Utah where he put up solid numbers. Five years into his pro career, he's looking for an opportunity to make his AHL debut in 2019-20.
Jared Coreau (San Antonio/San Diego)45GP, 15-19-9, 3.27 GAA, .889 SV%, 2 SO
After four strong years with Grand Rapids, where he totaled 85 wins and 13 shutouts, it was a bit of a down year for Correau. He was traded from Anaheim to St. Louis just after the turn of the calendar year in 2019 and fared a little better with the Rampage going 12-13-6 with two shutouts. The big 6-6 goalie could be a bounce back year candidate for 2019-20.
Philippe Derosiers (Texas)23GP, 8-11-1, 2.54 GAA, .910 SV%, 1 SO
With young talent in the system turning pro at the goalie position, Dallas decided not to extend a qualifying offer to Derosiers - making him a UFA and free to sign with other teams on July 1st.
Zachary Fucale (Chicago)5GP, 1-3-0, 2.51 GAA, .909 SV%, 0 SO
Third goalie behind Oscar Dansk and Maxime Legace in Chicago spent the majority of the season in the ECHL with Fort Wayne, Fucale wasn't tendered a qualifying offer by Vegas.
Mitch Gillam (ECHL Worcester)44GP, 21-16-5, 3.07 GAA, .906 SV%, 1 SO
Gillam appeared in one AHL game with Bridgeport in 2018-19 while on an AHL contract, but was largely an ECHL starting goalie in Worcester with Evan Buitenhuis getting some spot starts sprinkled in throughout the season.
Jeff Glass (San Diego/Toronto)29GP, 12-9-3, 3.48 GAA, .883 SV%, 1 SO
Acquired by San Diego from AHL Toronto in December, Glass ended up starting in net for the Gulls to begin the postseason - going 6-4 with a 2.43 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage.
Brandon Halverson (Hartford)19GP, 8-8-3, 3.18 GAA, .893 SV%, 0 SO
A slight improvement in Halverson's AHL numbers over the past three years, but it's also tougher to gauge given Hartford's lack of team consistency in front of their goalies in 2018-19.
Andrew Hammond (Iowa)33GP, 19-12-2, 2.81 GAA, .910 SV%, 3 SO
Remember that NHL debut season in Ottawa where he was 20-1-2 in his first 25 games? He's seemingly not quite the same goalie he was in the Senators organization five years ago, but the veteran did seem to have a bounceback year in the AHL in 2018-19 with Iowa - nearly eclipsing the 20-win mark in just 33 appearances and getting back to playing in the AHL postseason for the first time since the 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs.
Michael Houser (ECHL Cincinnati)41GP, 29-7-5, 2.13 GAA, .922 SV%, 2 SO
On an AHL deal with Rochester last season, Houser spent the year in the ECHL with Cincinnati where he put up a terrific year nearly eclipsing the 30-win mark in only 41 appearances.
Tanner Jaillet (ECHL Jacksonville)26GP, 10-12-1, 2.92 GAA, .897 SV%, 1 SO
In his rookie season at the pro level following four years at the University of Denver, Jaillet signed an AHL contract with Manitoba but ended up playing the 2018-19 season entirely in the ECHL.
Cam Johnson (Binghamton)29GP, 11-15-3, 3.79 GAA, .872 SV%, 1 SO
The rookie goaltender wasn't tendered a qualifying offer from New Jersey.
Branden Komm (Lehigh Valley)4GP, 1-2-0, 3.28 GAA, ,901 SV%, 0 SO
Komm got a few games in when the Flyers and Phantoms were decimated by injuries at the goaltender position and held his own making his AHL debut in his fifth year of pro hockey after traveling around on numerous ECHL clubs previously.
Ivan Kulbakov (Utica)25GP, 10-9-6, 3.50 GAA, .893 SV%, 0 SO
Kulbakov went winless in his first AHL season in 2017-18, though just an 0-5 record with eight appearances. In his second year, also split between the AHL and ECHL, Kulbakov saw his AHL-level workload increase in Utica where he held his own. Could be a good depth addition for an AHL club, only 22 years old.
Eddie Lack (Binghamton)6GP, 2-3-1, 4.10 GAA, .863 SV%, 0 SO
Hip surgery before the turn of the 2019 calendar year ended Lack's season before it really got started, only appearing in six AHL games last season. Tough luck for the 31-year-old, who enters his 10th year of pro hockey in North America with 143 games of NHL experience and just as many AHL games played.
Maxime Legace (Chicago)33GP, 16-10-6, 2.43 GAA, .914 SV%, 1 SO
Legace formed a formidable duo with Oscar Dansk this season, and while Dansk had a better season there's no reason not to think that Legace can be an organizational #3 goalie that can handle a regular starters workload in the AHL in 2019-20.
Michael Leighton (Utica/Ontario)22GP, 9-10-1, 2.93 GAA, .895 SV%, 0 SO
The 38-year-old journeyman goaltender spent most of the 2018-19 season in Utica and steadied the ship for a Comets team seemingly plagued by injuries throughout the year. Does he have another AHL year in him?
Etienne Marcoux (Laval)5GP, 1-3-1, 3.45 GAA, ,868 SV%, 1 SO
Marcoux picked up a shutout in his first career AHL win this season after spending the majority of the past two seasons in the ECHL. Unfortunately for him it was his only AHL win of the season. Still, he played well with ECHL Brampton - winning 19 games and posting four shutouts with a 2.58 GAA, .918 SV%.
Spencer Martin (Colorado)23GP, 9-10-2, 3.40 GAA, .902 SV%, 3 SO
Played second fiddle to Pavel Francouz in Colorado last season, who had much better numbers as the starter along with a 27-17-3 record.
Eamon McAdam (Toronto)19GP, 9-5-4, 2.99 GAA, .897 SV%, 1 SO
Not tendered a qualifying offer from Toronto, McAdam is set to become a UFA and free to sign with other teams on July 1st.
Tom McCollum (Milwaukee)34GP, 12-10-10, 2.72 GAA, .899 SV%, 2 SO
McCollum has spent most of his AHL career with Grand Rapids, but followed up a 20-win season in 2017-18 as a 1B to Troy Grosenick in Milwaukee last year.
Mason McDonald (ECHL Kansas City)36GP, 23-10-3, 2.54 GAA, .917 SV%, 4 SO
The RFA was not tendered a qualifying offer by Calgary as the team has Tyler Parsons, Nick Schneider and Artyom Zagidulin under contract next season.
Zane McIntyre (Providence)46GP, 25-14-7, 2.59 GAA, .898 SV%, 2 SO
McIntyre is a guy you can lean on to carry the load at the AHL level and be able to be an NHL backup with the ring of a phone call.
Mike McKenna (Belleville/Lehigh Valley)16GP, 8-7-0, 3.27 GAA, .903 SV%, 0 SO
McKenna told Inside AHL Hockey after the season that he was "pragmatically unsure" if he had played his final game, noting that he would need a lot to happen to sign another contract to continue is playing career - specifically with regards to his family after a tough season on a personal level for the well-traveled veteran who became separated from his family mid-season.
Hunter Miska (Tucson)25GP, 10-8-4, 3.08 GAA, .895 SV%, 0 SO
Miska didn't receive a qualifying offer from Arizona and will become a free agent on July 1st.
Al Montoya (Bakersfield)11GP, 5-6-0, 3.09 GAA, .879 SV%, 0 SO
Montoya split time with a trio of rookie goalies in Bakersfield last season including rising star Shane Starrett. Not sure what the future holds for Montoya, but a veteran with 168 NHL games of experience in net isn't a bad depth addition if he's willing to work with a younger goalie coming into the pro game.
Adam Morrison (ECHL South Carolina)12GP, 6-5-0, 2.87 GAA, .902 SV%, 1 SO
Morrison spent the season in the ECHL with Hershey's affiliate in South Carolina.
John Muse (W-B/Scranton)10GP, 6-4-0, 3.00 GAA, .906 SV%, 2 SO
The Penguins rode Tristan Jarry (47 games) last season, and Anthony Peters seemingly found himself ahead of Muse on the depth chart.
Chris Nell (ECHL Greenville)38GP, 15-20-0, 3.34 GAA, .896 SV%, 1 SO
Not tendered a qualifying offer from the New York Rangers. The Bowling Green State University product has been largely an ECHL goalie after initially breaking into the pro scene with Hartford in 2017-18 - appearing in 18 AHL games and going 8-8 as a rookie.
Martin Ouellette (Syracuse)6GP, 3-0-1, 1.61 GAA, .939 SV%, 0 SO
Small sample size, but perhaps all Ouellette needs is more of an opportunity to show he can handle a workload. He had a strong end to each of his last two seasons in the AHL with the Crunch last year and previously Lehigh Valley.
Jake Paterson (Belleville)4GP, 0-1-0, 2.97 GAA, .850 SV%, 0 SO
Former 2012-3rd round pick of Detroit has been largely an ECHL goalie in his five years of pro hockey.
Jaime Phillips (ECHL Florida/Reading)42 GP, 27-11-3, 2.51 GAA, .908 SV%, 1 SO
On an AHL contract with Charlotte, Phillips split the season in the ECHL between Florida and Reading putting up decent numbers at that level. A depth option for an AHL club looking for an AHL #3 goalie.
Dustin Tokarski (Hartford/Charlotte)28GP, 17-6-2, 2.58 GAA, .914 SV%, 2 SO
After being loaned to AHL Charlotte near the trade deadline, Tokarski proved to be quite the late-season addition for the Calder Cup Champions. Tokarski went 7-0-0 in Charlotte to conclude the regular season in addition to a perfect 5-0 record in the postseason. Where Tokarski lands next will be interesting to watch from an AHL perspective.
Scott Wedgewood (Rochester)48GP, 28-14-2, 2.68 GAA, .908 SV%, 5 SO
While Alex Nedeljkovic (Charlotte) and Shane Starrett (Bakersfield) stole the spotlight in terms of attention with their stellar seasons, Wedgewood was one of the top goalies in the AHL in the regular season in 2018-19. The seven-year pro is a textbook organizational number three goaltender that can be an NHL backup or help steer a young goalie in the AHL.
Adam Wilcox (Rochester)28GP, 13-8-5, 2.82 GAA, .896 SV%, 0 SO
Wilcox played second fiddle to Wedgewood in Rochester, but has been a consistent sub-3.00 GAA, .900 SV% goalie at the AHL level in 133 career AHL games.
Defensemen
Terrance Amorosa (ECHL Tulsa)12GP, 1G-5A, +6, 6 PIM
On an AHL contract with San Diego in 2018-19, but only saw ECHL time.
Arvin Atwal (ECHL Cincinnati)65GP, 10G-29A, +44, 214 PIM
Largely an ECHL defender in his three-year pro career to date.
Johnny Austin (ECHL Wheeling)41GP, 5G-15A, +12, 26 PIM
On an AHL deal with W-B/Scranton, Austin spent his first full season of pro hockey in the ECHL with the Wheeling Nailers
Charles-David Beaudoin (Manitoba)57GP, 1G-6A, -2, 44 PIM
Beaudoin was a depth defender for Manitoba on an AHL deal this past season.
Chris Bigras (Hartford)52GP, 3G-19A, +5, 36 PIM
The pending RFA won't be given a qualifying offer by the New York Rangers.
Dylan Bredo (ECHL Tulsa)72GP, 5G-43A, +19, 36 PIM
On an AHL contract with San Antonio, Bredo spent the year in the ECHL minus a one-game AHL stint in 2018-19.
Chris Breen (Providence) - V47GP, 2G-9A, +8, 38 PIM
The big, physical stay-at-home defender uses his 6-foot-7 frame to make life difficult for opposing teams' forwards at the net front.
Erik Burgdoerfer (Belleville) - V64GP, 5G-13A, +18, 44 PIM
Belleville's captain last season, Burgdoerfer has been a consistent 20-point AHL defenseman that plays a more well-rounded game. Counts against the AHL's development rule and is considered a "veteran" moving into 2019-20.
Chris Butler (San Antonio) - V51GP, 2G-19A, -3, 40 PIM
The veteran defender is a must-have for a team needing depth behind a young D-core of prospects on their AHL squad.
Andrew Campbell (Rockford) - V64GP, 3G-5A, -1, 50 PIM
The veteran defender represented the Western Conference All-Stars as the team's captain this past season, a nice honor for a longtime pro with 719 AHL games under his belt.
Chris Carlisle (ECHL Manchester)44GP, 3G-19A, Even, 40 PIM
Carlisle began the year in the ECHL and was loaned to several AHL teams on professional tryout contracts before finishing the year on an AHL deal with Belleville.
Chris Casto (Bridgeport) - V43GP, 4G-9A, +10, 21 PIM
A long-time steadying force on the blue line in Providence, Casto bounced from Chicago to Bridgeport over the past two seasons and is still very much a reliable two-way defenseman at the AHL level.
Jacob Cederholm (ECHL Jacksonville)25GP, 1G-5A, +9, 8 PIM
On an AHL contract in his first full season in North America, Cederholm split time between AHL Manitoba and the ECHL in Jacksonville.
Garret Cockerill (Cleveland)16GP, 0G-5A, +2, 6 PIM
On an AHL contract with the Monsters, Cockerill was a depth defender that spent considerable time in the ECHL last season - his first full season at the pro level.
Mike Cornell (ECHL Worcester)60GP, 5G-25A, -14, 172 PIM
On an AHL deal with Bridgeport, Cornell was the Worcester Railers' captain in 2018-19.
Frank Corrado (Toronto) - V/E39GP, 2G-4A, -2, 18 PIM
Corrado ended up in Toronto on an AHL contract this past season after time previously on an NHL deal with Maple Leafs organization. Had split time between the NHL & AHL in Toronto and Pittsburgh previously.
Marc-Olivier Crevier-Morin (ECHL Wichita)1G-8A, +9, 48 PIM
On an AHL deal with Bakersfield, Crevier-Morin spent his first pro season in the ECHL.
Tommy Cross (Cleveland) - V73GP, 7G-27A, -13, 71 PIM
The longtime Providence Bruins captain fared well in the AHL on a one-year deal in the Columbus Blue Jackets organization. The veteran could be of assistance to an AHL club lacking depth and experience on the back end.
Kyle Cumiskey (Providence) - V35GP, 3G-15A, +7, 12 PIM
The 32-year-old defender took a year off from hockey in 2017-18 but joined Providence on an AHL contract last year and played well in 35 appearances.
Brandon Davidson (Rockford) V/E6GP, 1G-0A, Even, 5 PIM
Davidson split the year between the NHL and AHL.
Kevin Davis (Colorado)25GP, 3G-12A, -8, 0 PIM
On an AHL deal with Colorado in his first pro season out of the WHL, Davis split time between the AHL and ECHL in 2018-19.
James de Haas (Lehigh Valley)48GP, 1G-9A, -12, 22 PIM
de Haas worked his way up to full-time AHL status last season in Lehigh Valley. A capable third pairing or #7 defenseman at the AHL level that can do a little bit of everything.
Josiah Didier (Charlotte)41GP, 2G-8A, +10, 52 PIM
His fourth full year of pro hockey was his first without any time spent in the ECHL. If nothing else, the exposure gained from playing on the reigning champs should allow Didier to find work in the AHL next fall as a depth option on defense.
Jack Dougherty (Rochester)56GP, 2G-10A, +15, 32 PIM
Traded from Nashville to Buffalo before the AHL's regular season began, Dougherty had a regular spot on the Rochester blue line this past season but wasn't tendered a qualifying offer and will become a UFA on July 1st.
Michael Downing (ECHL Florida)17GP, 1G-7A, +4, 22 PIM
Dowing was a full-time AHL'er two years ago, but was a full-time ECHL player in 2018-19 which is likely why he wasn't tendered a qualifying offer by Florida. Not tendered qualifying offer by Florida.
David Drake (ECHL Reading)64GP, 1G-7A, -8, 48 PIM
The big defensive defenseman was on an AHL contract with Lehigh Valley but spent his rookie season of pro hockey with the Phantoms' ECHL affiliate in Reading.
Justin Falk (Belleville/Colorado) - V26GP, 2G-5A, +4, 16 PIM
From a professional tryout contract with the AHL's Colorado Eagles to an NHL contract and 10 NHL games with the Ottawa Senators, it was quite a ride for the veteran defenseman in 2018-19.
Anthony Florentino (ECHL Cincinnati)62GP, 3G-5A, +5, 62 PIM
Florentino spent 2018-19 entirely in the ECHL in his second year of pro hockey.
Chris Forney (ECHL Tulsa)40GP, 3G-11A, +12, 18 PIM
On an AHL deal with San Diego, Forney was a depth defender that spent the majority of the year in the ECHL.
Zach Frye (ECHL Orlando)25GP, 5G-11A, +12, 58 PIM
Managed just seven AHL games in his first full year of pro hockey following four years at the Univeristy of Alaska-Fairbanks.
Olivier Galipeau (ECHL Atlanta)56GP, 6G-17A, -14, 20 PIM
Galipeau played well in the ECHL in his rookie season of pro hockey coming undrafted out of the QMJHL. Providence signed him to an AHL deal last season. Where will he find work in 2019-20?
Mason Geertsen (Colorado)58GP, 3G-13A, +5, 134 PIM
Geertsen wasn't tendered a qualifying offer by Colorado this summer, making the big-bodied physical defender a UFA on July 1st.
John Gilmour (Hartford)70GP, 20G-34A, -11, 31 PIM
The offensive juggernaut on the blue line ended up leading Hartford in scoring when it was all said and done, and 2nd in the AHL among defensemen just one point behind Hershey's Aaron Ness. At the AHL level, an elite offensive defenseman that can put a team over the top.
Nolan Gluchowski (ECHL Idaho)55GP, 11G-29A, +6, 76 PIM
On an AHL contract with Texas, Gluchowski put up good numbers in the ECHL as a rookie at the pro level.
Jacob Graves (ECHL Norfolk/Reading)45GP, 4G-5A, -1, 84 PIM
The pending restricted free agent acquired by the Philadelphia Flyers in the Jordan Weal trade finished out the year in the ECHL, and was not tendered a qualifying offer.
Eric Gryba (Binghamton) - V47GP, 2G-5A, -19, 96 PIM
Gryba returned to Binghamton this past season for the first time since he broke into the league with the Bingamton Senators from 2010-13. More NHL games played (289) than AHL (254) entering 2019-20.
Alex Gudbranson (ECHL Newfoundland)55GP, 2G-8A, +8. 29 PIM
Erik Gudbranson's brother has been largely an ECHL defender to this point after getting 45 AHL games with Iowa Wild in his rookie season at the pro level in 2014-15. Was on an AHL contract with Toronto last season.
Tariq Hammond (Binghamton)43GP, 1G-2A, -5, 18 PIM
Hammond was a depth defenseman on an AHL contract with the Devils in his first full season of pro hockey following four years at the University of Denver.
Shane Hanna (Texas)58GP, 2G-8A, +6, 20 PIM
Hanna's second pro season was his first spent entirely in the AHL.
Josh Healey (Stockton)55GP, 1G-10A, +4, 64 PIM
Healey appeared in his second full season at the AHL level following four years at Ohio State (NCAA). Wasn't tendered a qualifying offer from Calgary this summer.
Blake Hillman (Rockford)54GP, 1G-3A, -14, 20 PIM
Hillman wasn't tendered a qualifying offer by Chicago this summer after a two-year entry level contract in which he burned the first year playing 4 NHL games with the Blackhawks in 2017-18.
Frank Hora (ECHL Reading)70GP, 2G-15A, +13, 36 PIM
Hora has played well in Reading the past two seasons, but only was able to appear in nine AHL games during his two-year AHL contract - seemingly too far buried on the organizational depth chart.
Sam Jardine (Toronto)37GP, 1G-6A, -10, 59 PIM
Jardine has bounced between the AHL and ECHL in his four years at the pro level since coming out of college after four years at Ohio State.
Michael Kapla (Iowa/Binghamton)66GP, 2G-22A, -14, 14 PIM
Acquired by Minnesota in a mid-season trade with New Jersey, Kapla wasn't tendered a qualifying offer by the Wild.
Eric Knodel (ECHL Cincinnati)70GP, 17G-36A, +38, 34 PIM
Knodel has been largely an ECHL defender in his five-year pro career, but has put up 50-plus points in each of the last two seasons.
Jake Kulevich (Bakersfield)29GP, 2G-6A, +11, 25 PIM
Kulevich has been a depth defenseman at the AHL level in his first two years in the league.
Hubert Labrie (Syracuse) - V69GP, 0G-10A, +21, 73 PIM
The veteran has carved himself out a role as a full-time AHL defender over the years.
Joey Leach (Hershey)18GP, 1G-1A, +2, 6 PIM
On an AHL deal with the Bears, Leach was the captain of their ECHL affiliate in South Carolina and had some AHL time when injuries on the blue line piled up in the organization.
Brett Lernout (Laval)74GP, 4G-5A, +3, 41 PIM
The longtime Montreal Canadiens prospect wasn't offered a qualifying offer this summer and will become a UFA on July 1st.
Zac Leslie (Chicago)67GP, 2G-14A,+4, 32 PIM
Leslie was a mainstay on the Wolves' blue line in 2018-19 and was part of a strong, young and talented defense core this past season.
Alex Lintuniemi (Ontario)67GP, 2G-23A, -30, 22 PIM
Lintuniemi has spent three years in the AHL now - all with the Ontario Reign.
Kevin Lough (Chicago)14GP, 0G-1A, 6 PIM, +3
Lough split time in the ECHL again this season on an AHL contract with the Wolves. The incoming young defensemen diminished his role at the AHL level in 2018-19.
Vincent LoVerde (Toronto) - V68GP, 3G-8A, -2, 33 PIM
Not as many goals in 2018-19 for the veteran puck-mover, but on a Marlies team with young studs on the blue line it was certainly a lesser role for LoVerde this past season. Still a very capable experienced two-way guy at the AHL level.
Nick Luukko (ECHL Reading)72GP, 10G-22A, -6, 40 PIM
Luukko has been a regular one-year AHL deal guy for Lehigh Valley the past few years but has only seen a total of seven AHL games - just one since the spring of his senior season with the University of Vermont in 2014-15.
Ryan MacKinnon (ECHL Worcester)68GP, 6G-20A, -12, 37 PIM
On AHL contract with Bridgeport, MacKinnon spent the entirety of 2018-19 in the ECHL with Worcester.
John MacLeod (ECHL South Carolina)50GP, 1G-5A, -3, 34 PIM

Martenet was not tendered a qualifying offer from Dallas.
Brycen Martin (ECHL Maine)54GP, 7G-21A, -11, 79 PIM
Martin was not tendered a qualifying offer from the Buffalo Sabres as he didn't crack the AHL lineup in the final year of his contract.
Patrick McCarron (ECHL Florida)70GP, 2G-25A, +23, 51 PIM
On an AHL deal with Charlotte last season, McCarron spent the year in the ECHL with the Everblades.

On an AHL contract with Laval last season but spent the year in the ECHL with Norfolk.
Julian Melchiori (Springfield) - V54GP, 6G-6A, Even, 49 PIM
Melchiori is a solid AHL-level defenseman capable of logging big minutes and taking some pressure off the younger, more raw defensemen adjusting to life in the AHL.
Dakota Mermis (Tucson)62GP, 3G-21A, -2, 49 PIM
With 261 pro games played entering 2019-20, Mermis just barely enters 'Veteran-Extra' territory.
Joel Messner (Providence)32GP, 1G-6A, -4, 18 PIM
Messner split his first pro season on an AHL deal with the PBruins, splitting the 2018-19 season between the AHL and ECHL.

The rookie spent his first pro season in the ECHL while on a two-way AHL/ECHL contract with Bridgeport in 2018-19. Mueller appeared in four AHL games with Bridgeport on an ATO in the spring of 2018 after a four-year collegiate career at UMass-Lowell.
Ryan Murphy (Binghamton/Iowa) - V58GP, 3G-22A, -14, 20 PIM
Got games in at the NHL and AHL level on two different organizations after a mid-season trade from Minnesota saw the veteran defender finish the season with the New Jersey Devils organization. He wasn't tendered a qualifying offer by New Jersey.
Jordan Murray (Belleville)54GP, 9G-17A, -2, 38 PIM
A second strong AHL season in the Senators organization for Murray following four years at the University of New Brunswick (USports). Obvious offensive flare, perhaps a good depth AHL signing for a team this summer if not re-signed by the Senators.
Aaron Ness (Hershey) - V71GP, 5G-50A, +24, 40 PIM
The ultimate puck distributor at the AHL level, Ness led all defensemen in the league in scoring last season. Could be an instant shot in the arm for an AHL team's defense core heading into 2019-20.
Brady Norrish (Texas)13GP, 1G-4A, -4, 12 PIM
Norrish spent most of his rookie season in the ECHL with Idaho following four years at RIT.

Pedrie was added by Milwaukee mid-season on a PTO that he turned into an AHL contract after beginning the year in Hartford.
Stuart Percy (Providence/Belleville) - V55GP, 3G-21A, -1, 32 PIM
Percy is a solid AHL-level two-way defenseman, but he has now been on five different teams in the last four years. Where will he land in 2019-20?
Nate Prosser (Iowa) - V37GP, 1G-7A, -1, 20 PIM
Prosser has spent all nine years of his pro career in the Minnesota Wild organization, and the veteran has become a reliable organizational #8/9 blue liner that has appeared in more NHL games in his career (354) than AHL (127) entering 2019-20. Could be a great vet addition on the back end for an AHL squad.
Ethan Prow (W-B/Scranton)74GP, 18G-32A, +26, 22 PIM
The Penguins' All-Star representative also ended up leading the team in scoring. Prow has a great shot and really good offensive instincts. Scored nine goals at even strength last season, so more than just a power play specialist.
Jonathan Racine (ECHL Brampton) - V/E44GP, 7G-13A, +13, 103 PIM
The veteran AHL depth defender plays with snarl, but appeared in just eight AHL games in 2018-19. Worse yet, those eight games put him over 260 pro games played and he's subject to the AHL's development rule limiting five veterans and one V/E (260-320 pro games) in the lineup.
Daniel Renouf (Charlotte)74GP, 2G-22A, +13, 121 PIM
A solid depth addition for Charlotte last summer, Renouf now has put together three solid AHL campaigns since coming out of the University of Maine as an undrafted free agent.
Griffin Reinhart (Chicago) - V/E75GP, 4G-12A, -8, 27 PIM

On an AHL contract with San Antonio, Rhodes spent his second straight year in Tulsa in 2018-19.
Dennis Robertson (Charlotte) - V49GP, 5G-5A, +7, 36 PIM
With 276 AHL games now on his resume, Robertson will count as one of the six veterans an AHL team can dress each night. By rule, only five players with 320 or more pro games played at the start of the season and an additional player with more than 260 games played can be in a team's lineup on any given night.
Kristians Rubins (Toronto)15GP, 0G-3A, -2, 4 PIM
His first pro season in North America was spent primarily in the ECHL with Newfoundland while one of the Marlies' many AHL contracts given out in 2018-19.
Philip Samuelsson (Lehigh Valley) - V67GP, 4G-11A, +2, 26 PIM
The defensively-minded blue liner prides himself on being a penalty killer and one that's reliable in his own end. Where will he stop next on his AHL tour?
Bobby Sanguinetti (Charlotte) - V28GP, 1G-3A, -2, 10 PIM

A strong two-way defenseman, Schilling was an alternate captain with Manitoba this past season - his second in the organization.
Derek Sheppard (Charlotte)10GP, 0G-1A, Even, 24 PIM
In his first full season of pro hockey, Sheppard was largely an ECHL defenseman in 2018-19 though he put up fantastic numbers with the Florida Everblades - tallying 40 points in 57 games.
Duncan Siemens (Milwaukee) - V48GP, 2G-5A, +1, 77 PIM
The 11th overall pick in the 2011 Draft hasn't quite panned out, but he's still a big bodied defenseman that can move the puck efficiently and plays physical in the tough areas in front of the net and in the corners.
Ryan Sproul (Hershey/Laval/Toronto) - V64GP, 10G-19A, -2, 16 PIM
Sproul bounced around to start 2018-19, on a PTO with Toronto to a PTO with Laval before landing an AHL contract with Hershey in early December. At the AHL level, Sproul is an offensively minded right-handed shooting defenseman with a good shot and power play abilities.
Jordan Subban (Toronto)48GP, 3G-15A, -1, 25 PIM
The 5-9 offensively-minded defenseman wasn't qualified by Toronto, thus making him a UFA and eligible to sign with other teams on July 1st.
Ryan Stanton (Bakersfield) - V65GP, 5G-15A, +20, 76 PIM
An experienced defender that could be a welcomed addition to a young D-core at the AHL level.
Chris Summers (W-B/Scranton) - V59GP, 3G-13A, -2, 54 PIM
The physical defenseman brings a wealth of experience and could compliment a younger blue line core in the AHL.
Matt Taormina (Stockton) - V31GP, 0G-7A, -12, 14 PIM
Call it a down year for Taormina after he tallied a combined 112 points in the two years prior to the seven-point year in Stockton this past season.
Jeff Taylor (W-B/Scranton)42GP, 2G-6A, Even, 33 PIM
Taylor was a late round pick by the Penguins that wasn't tendered a qualifying offer.
Matt Tennyson (Rochester) - V47GP, 4G-17A, -8, 42 PIM
Tennyson managed a four-game NHL stint with the Sabres this season, and was a top-four defender for their AHL affiliate in Rochester this past season.
Keaton Thompson (San Diego)53GP, 0G-7A, -2, 49 PIM
Thompson wasn't tendered a qualifying offer from Anaheim, making him a UFA on July 1st.
Josh Thrower (ECHL Allen)37GP, 0G-5A, -12, 59 PIM
On an AHL deal with Iowa, Thrower was a depth defenseman that spent the year in the ECHL.
Nolan Valleau (Syracuse)68GP, 3G-17A, +20, 33 PIM
Valleau bounced around the AHL on numerous PTO's in 2017-18 but found a more permanent home in Syracuse this past season and had success on a strong Syracuse squad.

Wade spent most of his rookie season in the ECHL with the Florida Everblades following his four-year collegiate career at the University of Notre Dame.

Chris Wideman (W-B/Scranton & Springfield) - V19GP, 3G-10A, -2, 12 PIM
Wideman was traded three times in a span of three months from Thanksgiving to Valentine's Day, but if he ends up in the AHL in 2019-20 he'll be one of the top-tier offensive threats in the league. His last two full AHL seasons produced a combined 112 points.
Justin Woods (ECHL Jacksonville)44GP, 9G-11A, -19, 25 PIM
On an AHL deal with Manitoba last season, Woods got nine AHL games in but spent most of the year in the ECHL.
Tyler Wotherspoon (San Antonio) - V70GP, 4G-18A, -3, 28 PIM
Wotherspoon showed in Stockton he was able to produce offensively if put in that role, and he's become a solid two-way guy after another strong season in 2018-19.
Forwards
Andrew Agozzino (Colorado) - V56GP, 26G-34A, +12, 67 PIM
The veteran forward was an AHL All-Star this past season, and for good reason. He dominated the AHL offensively, and also tallied a goal and an assist in 11 games with the Avalanche in 2018-19.
Andy Andreoff (Syracuse) - V75GP, 26G-29A, +12, 150 PIM
The longtime Los Angeles Kings forward signed a one-year contract with Tampa Bay and spent his first season in the AHL since 2013-14. Could be a huge pickup for an AHL club if he can't get back in the NHL in 2019-20.
Pascal Aquin (ECHL Cincinnati)68GP, 27G-32A,+23, 81 PIM
In his first pro season on an AHL contract with Rochester, Aquin was a near point-per-game player in the ECHL with the Cyclones this past season following four years in the QMJHL.
Olivier Archambault (Syracuse)7GP, 0G-3A, +2, 2 PIM
An injury riddled season limited Archambault to just 12 total games between the AHL and ECHL this past season.
Darren Archibald (Belleville/Utica) - V51GP, 19G-14A, +2, 45 PIM
The longtime Utica Comets forward was traded mid-season and finished the year with Belleville, while also racking up 12 NHL games (one goal, one assist) between the Vancouver Canucks and Ottawa Senators in 2018-19.
Daniel Audette (Laval)71GP, 14G-25A, -3, 53 PIM
The three-year pro wasn't tendered a qualifying offer from Montreal. Just turned 23 in May, could be a good depth scorer for an AHL club this summer.
Justin Bailey (Lehigh Valley/Rochester)54GP, 15G-13A, -4, 30 PIM
Traded mid-season from Buffalo to Philadelphia in a minor league swap of forwards (Taylor Leier was sent to Buffalo) Bailey was nicknamed the human yo-yo by many in the Lehigh Valley referring to how many times he was called up and sent down between the NHL and the AHL. Slight surprise that he wasn't tendered a qualifying offer.
Chase Balisy (Belleville) - V76GP, 7G-15A, +3, 36 PIM
Balisy broke onto the AHL scene in 2014-15 with a 21-goal rookie season but hasn't hit the 20-goal plateau since. Spent last year in AHL Belleville.
Nicholas Baptiste (Toronto/Milwaukee) - V/E73GP, 12G-15A, -22, 2o PIM
Baptiste wasn't tendered a qualifying offer from Toronto and is set to become a UFA on July 1st.
Riley Barber (Hershey)64GP, 31G-29A, Even, 84 PIM
Barber is two-years removed from his lone NHL stint (three games), but it didn't stop him from tearing up the AHL offensively last season - finishing second on his team in scoring despite playing 11 less games than the Bears' scoring leader Mike Sgarbossa (65 points in 75 games).
Cole Bardreau (Lehigh Valley)40GP, 7G-5A, -3, 38 PIM
Injuries have hindered Bardreau from being able to fully showcase his specific skill set, but the feisty hard-nosed forward can be a useful middle-six addition to an AHL squad. Sometimes, all a guy needs is a fresh start.
Cody Bass (Colorado) - V35GP, 2G-4A, -6, 81 PIM
The veteran two-way forward has racked up over 500 pro games in his now 12-year career.
Kyle Bauman (Ontario)67GP, 5G-13A, -17, 26 PIM
Bauman's first full season in the AHL came on a less than stellar Ontario team in 2018-19.

The second-year pro split the year between the AHL and ECHL, but spent more time in Bellville than Brampton in 2018-19.
Steve Bernier (Bridgeport) - V62GP, 24G-18A, +9, 87 PIM
A veteran of almost 900 pro games, including 637 in the NHL, Bernier is proving that even at 34 he's still a more than capable option at the AHL level.
Mathew Berry (San Diego)42GP, 4G-14A, +6, 28 PIM
Berry split 2018-19 between the AHL and ECHL while on an AHL contract with the Gulls.

On an AHL deal with Rockford, Bondra spent the year in the ECHL with Indy.
Ryan Bourque (Bridgeport) - V60GP, 6G-10A, +10, 39 PIM

Patrick Brown (Charlotte) - V70GP, 19G-16A, +16, 32 PIM
A member of the Hurricanes organization his entire pro career spanning the past five years, Brown was the Checkers' captain for the third straight season and helped lead his team to a championship. The tenacious, two-way forward can be trusted in all situations at the AHL level and still has NHL aspirations - racking up 28 career NHL games to date and eight Stanley Cup Playoffs games this spring.
Jarrett Burton (W-B/Scranton)66GP, 6G-15A, +4, 51 PIM
Burton became a full-time AHL player in the past two seasons, and 2018-19 was his first without any ECHL games. He's becoming a solid, physical bottom-six forward at the AHL level.
Bobby Butler (Hartford) - V69GP, 8G-12A, -26, 20 PIM
A three-time 45-point plus player at the AHL level, Butler's offensive production was half that level in Hartford last season. Could be secondary scoring help for a team in need.
Mitch Callahan (Bakersfield) - V61GP, 15G-19A, +4, 22 PIM
Can be a great middle-six veteran forward addition, and a nice complimentary/secondary scoring boost to an AHL lineup.
Colin Campbell (Grand Rapids) - V63GP, 8G-11A, Even, 24 PIM
Campbell has been a solid two-way player for the Griffins for the past five years.
Carter Camper (Grand Rapids) - V67GP, 17G-33A, -1, 24 PIM
The longtime AHL scorer is still a top-six threat up front. The smallish forward uses his skating and quickness to his advantage, and has for years.
Greg Carey (Lehigh Valley) - V74GP, 29G-32A, -13, 45 PIM
Carey is probably the top pure goal scorer free agent target at the AHL level.
Daniel Carr (Chicago) - V/E52GP, 30G-41A, +35, 10 PIM
The AHL's 2018-19 regular season MVP, Carr dominated the AHL with the Wolves and in a limited season for him to boot. Surefire way to boost the AHL club's forward core with an addition like this, although Carr doesn't want to spend another second in the AHL if he doesn't have to.
Rourke Chartier (San Jose)26GP, 6G-12A, +3, 4 PIM
Split time between the AHL and NHL in 2018-19, but wasn't tendered a qualifying offer from San Jose this summer.

Condra has proven he can play at a high level in the AHL for some time now, dating back recently to his two years as the captain of AHL Syracuse.
Chris Conner (Lehigh Valley) - V72GP, 16G-35A, -6, 16 PIM
Conner is still an offensive threat at the AHL level, hitting the 50-point mark for the fourth time in his last five years. If not re-signed to another AHL contract by the Phantoms, a great middle-six forward option for a team in need of offensive help.
Eric Cornel (Rochester)76GP, 9G-13A, -2, 34 PIM
Cornel was the only player to appear in all 76 regular season games for Rochester last season, but the forward wasn't tendered a qualifying offer from Buffalo.

Jean-Sebastian Dea (Springfield & W-B/Scranton) - V46GP, 17G-27A, -12, 58 PIM
Dea is a speedy, dynamic offensive player at the AHL level who spent considerable time in the NHL last season. Surely, he'll be looking at taking his best chance to get back to the NHL when signing his next contract.
Dan DeSalvo (Cleveland)50GP, 5G-11A, -15, 20 PIM
DeSalvo has floated between the ECHL and AHL in his four years of pro hockey. On an AHL deal with the Cleveland Monsters last season, and spent 15 games in the ECHL.
Jamie Devane (Ontario) - V/E27GP, 2G-1A, -3, 79 PIM

On an AHL contract in his rookie season of pro hockey following a WHL career with Spokane, Elyniuk split the season between the AHL and ECHL.
Giorgio Estephan (ECHL Newfoundland)69GP, 20G-33, -2, 22 PIM
An offensively-minded forward, Estephan spent his rookie season on an AHL contract with Toronto though he played almost exclusively in the ECHL with Newfoundland.
Bobby Farnham (Springfield) - V67GP, 4G-13A, -9, 112 PIM
The feisty forward is good for 20-25 points a season at the AHL level to go along with being a pest on the ice and the kind of player the opposition hates playing against.
Hunter Fejes (Rockford/Manitoba/Hershey)49GP, 3G-5A, +1, 24 PIM
Fejes bounced around the AHL on PTOs throughout the season, ending up on one with Hershey in the postseason.
Brady Ferguson (ECHL Newfoundland)49GP, 30G-28A, +20, 40 PIM

Matt Fonteyne (San Jose)41GP, 5G-7A, -1, 2 PIM
In his first pro season on an AHL deal, Fonteyne appeared in more than half of the Barracuda's games in 2018-19.
Martin Frk (Grand Rapids) - V13GP, 5G-9A, +12, 6 PIM
Frk wasn't tendered a qualifying offer from Detroit, so the Czech-born forward becomes a UFA on July 1st. If he sneaks his way back into the AHL, he could be a point-per-game stud on on the right wing.
Byron Froese (Lehigh Valley/Laval) - V70GP, 21G-23A, +2, 51 PIM
Froese played 48 games in the NHL with Montreal in 2017-18, but was a full-time AHL'er this past season - finishing the year in Lehigh Valley after being traded to Philadelphia prior to the trade deadline. A solid two-way forward option at the AHL level, and a guy who likes to lead by example and was captain of the AHL's Laval Rocket the past two seasons in his time with the Montreal affiliate.
Austin Fyten (Belleville/Providence) - V/E51GP,4G-6A, -12, 55 PIM
The AHL bottom-six forward enters the 260-plus 'veteran-extra' category in 2019-20.

The veteran forward got five more games in the NHL on his resume this past season -- and his first postseason action since 2011-12. The 35-year-old provides a wealth of experience with over 700 pro games to his credit.
Felix Girard (Manitoba)70GP, 5G-13A, -3, 85 PIM

Glotov spent his first full season of pro hockey in the ECHL with the Cyclones while on an AHL contract with Rochester this past season.
Tyrell Goulbourne (Lehigh Valley)63GP, 9G-9A, +1, 135 PIM

Tyler Graovac (Stockton) - V65GP, 24G-26A, -8, 37 PIM
The rangy centerman had a career year offensively this past season in Stockton.

Alexandre Grenier (Laval) - V68GP, 11G-16A, -16, 54 PIM
Had four straight 40-point plus seasons before a bit of a down year this past season in Laval. Perhaps in a better situation, the 6-foot-5 forward can get back to being a 20-goal scorer in the AHL.
Dave Gust (Bakersfield)59GP, 18G-15A, +2, 24 PIM
Gust finished his two-year AHL contract and performed well in his first two seasons pro following four years at Ohio State (NCAA).

Gustafsson's second full season of pro hockey was spent entirely in the AHL after splitting time between the AHL and ECHL in 2017-18. He wasn't tendered a qualifying offer by Washington and thus becomes a UFA on July 1st.
Colton Hargrove (Texas)74GP, 13G-13A, +4, 39 PIM
With 259 games of pro experience, Hargrove gets in just under the 260-game limit before entering the AHL's 'Veteran' side of things. A solid bottom six forward that went out west in 2018-19 after three years with the Providence Bruins.
Jimmy Hayes (W-B/Scranton) - V72GP, 15G-15A, -1, 25 PIM
The big, 6-foot-5 forward can be too much to handle when he's on top of his game and using his frame to his advantage. Could be a great middle-six option for an AHL team lacking some size up front.
T.J. Hensick (San Jose) - V23GP, 6G-14A, +2, 0 PIM
The 33-year-old is still chugging along, but spent more time in the ECHL than AHL in 2018-19.

Japanese-born forward dominated offensively in the ECHL with Wheeling while on an AHL contract with the Penguins this past season.
Ben Holmstrom (Bridgeport) - V40GP, 3G-5A, -6, 25 PIM
Bridgeport's captain had quite an iron-man streak of consecutive games played entering the season, but the AHL's veteran rule and the Sound Tigers' overabundance of veteran players limited Holmstrom to just 40 games in 2018-19. The feisty forward is likely looking for a new opportunity in 2019-20.
Josh Holmstrom (ECHL Worcester)70GP, 14G-16A, -22, 45 PIM
Ben Holmstrom's younger brother has spent less and less time in the AHL throughout his four years at the pro level, spending 2018-19 entirely in the ECHL.

Hults was primarily an ECHL player in 2018-19 and wasn't tendered a qualifying offer by Tampa Bay.
Mike Huntebrinker (Lehigh Valley)22GP, 2G-0A, -3, 8 PIM
Huntebrinker filled in admirably on the Phantoms' bottom six when injuries decimated their lineup mid-season. A shootout specialist, Huntebrinker was 2-for-3 in shootouts in his time with Lehigh Valley with both of his goals being game-winners.
Matheson Iacopelli (Rockford)27GP, 2G-2A, -7, 19 PIM

Tomas Jurco (Charlotte/Springfield) - V33GP, 12G-15A, -3, 22 PIM
Jurco seemed to be re-energized following his trade to Charlotte from Springfield near the trade deadline this spring. He's offensively dynamic at the AHL level, and has had success in the past at the NHL level. Where he signs on for 2019-20 remains intriguing from an AHL perspective.
Nic Kerdiles (Manitoba)3GP, 0G-1A, +1, 4 PIM
Injuries cut his 2018-19 season severely short. He'll hope for better luck in 2019-20.

Jason Salvaggio (ECHL Wichita/Maine)60GP, 16G-22A, -2, 49 PIM
On an AHL deal with Hartford, Salvaggio spent the year in the ECHL split between Maine and Wichita.

On an AHL contract with the Rampage, Sampair spent most of the season in the ECHL -- appearing in 55 games with Tulsa.
Jordan Samuels-Thomas (ECHL South Carolina)26GP, 6G-12A, -2, 13 PIM
Samuels-Thomas began the season overseas, but eventually signed an AHL deal with Hershey before playing out the year with their ECHL affiliate in South Carolina.
Nick Schilkey (Charlotte)64GP, 15G-22A, +22, 12 PIM
The Ohio State standout took major strides forward in his second pro season in Charlotte, tripling his offensive production from his rookie season and gaining valuable experience during the Checkers' championship run this spring.
Ryan Schmelzer (Binghamton)66GP, 14G-10A, -14, 42 PIM
Schmelzer put up decent numbers in his first pro season following four years at Canisius College.
Cole Schneider (Milwaukee/Hartford) - V60GP, 23G-24A, Even, 33 PIM
Traded to Nashville mid-season, Schneider continued to be a solid top-six forward for the Admirals down the stretch - totaling 22 points in 24 games with Milwaukee.
Ben Sexton (W-B/Scranton & Belleville)43GP, 7G-12A, -8, 47 PIM
The five-year pro only has 202 pro games played, so he could be an attractive option for an AHL club looking for depth that is already carrying a lot of veteran players (260+ games).
Mike Sgarbossa (Hershey) - V75GP, 30G-35A, -3, 91 PIM
The increased offensive role and special teams work with Hershey paid off in spades for Sgarbossa, who had a career year offensively. A sure-fire top-six forward at the AHL level that will jolt your offense.
Dominik Shine (Grand Rapids)72GP, 6G-5A, -3, 53 PIM
In his second AHL season with the Griffins, Shine continued to be a depth forward and was able to play in all but four of his team's games in 2018-19.
Hunter Shinkaruk (Laval) - V/E
With exactly 320 pro games of experience (305 AHL + 15 NHL), Shinkaruk avoids being considered a veteran by AHL standards for one more season, though he's in that 'Veteran-Extra' category again this season.
Tyler Sikura (Rockford)50GP, 7G-12A, +1, 20 PIM
An ECHL'er his first two years as a pro, Sikura has worked his way now into his second full season in the AHL -- and an alternate captain in Rockford this past season after a 23-goal campaign in 2017-18.
Wayne Simpson (Rochester) - V/E72GP, 21G-24A, +1, 16 PIM
Simpson has tallied 40-plus points in three consecutive seasons on three different AHL teams, and enters the season with 296 pro games of experience - his last before counting as a veteran by AHL standards (320-plus games).
Mike Sislo (Bridgeport) - V39GP, 6G-9A, -12, 14 PIM
Coming off a 23-goal, 47-point season with Tucson a year prior, Sislo was thought to be a major addition to the Islanders' AHL club. Limited to 39 games, Sislo managed just 15 points in 2018-19.
Gemel Smith (Providence) - V/E47GP, 16G-24A, +6, 32 PIM
Smith was claimed by the Bruins on waivers from Dallas in December, and ended up slipping through to their AHL affiliate in Providence where he was a near point-per-game player.
Dalton Smith (Rochester) - V/E48GP, 2G-6A, -4, 111 PIM
At 319 games of AHL experience, the fourth line physical forward gets one more season before counts as a full-fledged AHL veteran by league rule (320-plus games experience).
Trevor Smith (San Antonio)- V51GP, 9G-13A, -15, 28 PIM
Smith was a back-to-back 40-point AHL forward in two seasons as captain of AHL Milwaukee prior to this stop on an AHL deal with the Rampage. Could be a solid veteran addition to bolster a young forward core.
Shawn St. Amant (Hartford)44GP, 3G-3A, -9, 39 PIM
The forward has floated between the AHL and ECHL the past three years since turning pro out of the QMJHL.
Lee Stempniak (Providence) - V20GP, 7G-11A, +3, 8 PIM
The 36-year-old was a near point-per-game plater at the AHL level last season. Will he be back in the AHL in 2019-20?
John Stevens (Bridgeport)25GP, 3G-4A, +2, 21 PIM
Stevens wasn't tendered a qualifying offer by the Islanders and is set to become a UFA on July 1st.
Zack Stortini (Charlotte) - V24GP, 0G-0A, -1, 49 PIM
Often a veteran scratch, Stortini's presence off the ice helped a Charlotte team behind the scenes on their way to championship. Not sure he offers much more than experience and a good mentor at this point in his career.
Ben Street (San Diego) - V32GP, 9G-17A, +7, 6 PIM
Street saw NHL time again this season, and continued to dominate the AHL while in the minors.
Steven Swavely (Lehigh Valley)40GP, 0G-7A, -4, 8 PIM
Swavely is a solid depth option for an AHL team's bottom-six capable of playing in the middle, killing penalties and confidently taking face-offs.
Jordan Szwarz (Providence) - V68GP, 23G-23A, +3, 56 PIM
The PBruins' captain has been at a near point-per-game pace in the AHL for the last three years. Three straight 20-goal seasons.
Adam Tambellini (Belleville)72GP, 13G-19A, -8, 18 PIM
Tambellini wasn't tendered a qualifying offer from Ottawa, thus making him a UFA on July 1st.
Eric Tangradi (Binghamton) - V41GP, 10G-14A, -16, 49 PIM
One of the bigger AHL-level free agent acquistions last summer, Tangradi had a bit of a down year offensively on a less-than-stellar Binghamton squad this past season after putting up 31 goals a year prior with Grand Rapids. Nonetheless, a solid power forward for an AHL top-six at this point in his career.
Ben Thomson (San Diego) - V53GP, 4G-9A, -4, 91 PIM
The hard-nosed forward reaches veteran status (more than 320 pro games of experience) entering 2019-20.
Jordan Topping (ECHL Toledo)58GP, 17G-14A, -4, 10 PIM
Topping's first season following four years with Tri-City (WHL) was spent in the ECHL with Grand Rapids affiliate.
Corey Tropp (San Diego) - V55GP, 20G-20A, -7, 124 PIM
Tropp has been a near point-per-game player at the AHL level with San Diego the past three seasons.

Tony Turgeon (Springfield)7GP, 0G-0A, Even, 25 PIM
On an AHL deal with Springfield in 2018-19.
T.J. Tynan (Chicago) - V71GP, 12G-59A, +17, 28 PIM
Daniel Carr's setup man in Chicago last season, Tynan has been a solid veteran addition to any AHL lineup he's been on. Point-per-game, check. Top-six AHL stud, check.
Cole Ully (ECHL Utah)38GP, 14G-27A, +5, 28 PIM
Ully spent almost the entire year in the ECHL except for a pair of AHL games with Colorado.
Matt Ustaski (ECHL Jacksonville)7GP, 0G-3A, -3, 2 PIM
Not much to go from here. Ustaski was on an AHL deal with Manitoba this past season.
Ryan Van Stralen (ECHL Wichita)57GP, 8G-11A, -9, 87 PIM
On an AHL deal with Bakersfield, Van Stralen spent the year in the ECHL with Wichita.
Mike Vecchione (Lehigh Valley)67GP, 15G-23A, -8, 36 PIM
A highly sought after college free agent when he came out of Union College, Vecchione has been a somewhat streaky scorer as a pro in two seasons with the Phantoms. With an influx of young talent coming to the pro ranks at the forward position in the Flyers organization, it'll be interesting to see what happens this summer with Vecchione.
Yannick Veilleux (Rochester) - V/E50PG, 5G-3A, -1, 64 PIM
The veteran depth forward stayed out of the ECHL in 2018-19, but his role offensively isn't quite the same at the AHL level where his best season came in 2015-16 with the Chicago Wolves (eight goals, 15 assists).
Tyler Vesel (Bakersfield)61GP, 5G-13A, +7, 4 PIM
Vesel held his own at the AHL level in his first full year of pro hockey after four years at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
Sam Vigneault (Cleveland)61GP, 4G-16A, -3, 32 PIM
The 23-year-old forward was not tendered a qualifying offer by Columbus.
Ryan Wagner (Chiacgo)49GP, 4G-3A, -6, 10 PIM
The speedy 5-8 forward out of the University of Wisconsin held his own on an AHL contract this past season as a rookie.
Nathan Walker (Hershey) - V/E58GP, 17G-22A, -8, 54 PIM
The small, but feisty, 5-8 forward has had a few cups of coffee at the NHL level (12 career NHL games), but has been largely an AHL player thus far in his pro career. Walker falls under the "additional veteran who has played more than 260 pro games but less than 320 at the start of the season" category for 2019-20 entering the season with 312 pro games.
Brian Ward (ECHL Adirondack)48GP, 20G-21A, +8, 104 PIM
On an AHL deal with Binghamton, Ward spent 17 games with the Devils while spending most of his season in the ECHL.
Spencer Watson (Rockford)10GP, 1G-2A, +1, 2 PIM
Watson was largely an ECHL player the past two seasons, and wasn't tendered a qualifying offer from Chicago this summer.
Matthew Weis (Chicago)60GP, 3G-8A, +3, 8 PIM
Weis was on an AHL deal with the Wolves as a rookie in 2018-19 following four years at Ohio State University (NCAA).
Alex Wideman (ECHL Cincinnati)63GP, 23G-39A, +37, 22 PIM
Wideman has been primarily a scorer at the ECHL level in four years of pro hockey following four years at Miami University (Ohio).
Tyler Wong (Chicago)68GP, 5G-8A, -9, 24 PIM
In his 2nd pro season with the Wolves, Wong played a steady fourth line role in the AHL in 2018-19.
Trevor Yates (ECHL Wheeling/Toledo)42GP, 8G-14A, +2, 19 PIM
Yates was primarily an ECHL player in his first pro season following a four-year collegiate career at Cornell University but was acquired by the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins from Grand Rapids for future considerations in February.
Harry Zolnierczyk (Springfield) - V72GP, 15G-36A, -19, 38 PIM
Harry Z is still a solid top-six option at the AHL level capable of playing in all situations and the protypical 'Quad A' player bouncing back and forth between the NHL and AHL.
