AHL Trade Deadline Day - March 5, 2018
The American Hockey League's (AHL) own version of trade deadline day falls exactly one week after the NHL executes their final trades, and this year is no different.
Players on AHL contracts can be moved before 3 p.m. ET, and as you can see below there are quite a few players on each team on AHL-only contracts that are eligible to be swapped today.
First, a look at four potential players in the Atlantic Division that, if moved today, could provide their new team a boost for the playoff race.
Forward Travis St. Denis - Bridgeport 2017-18 Stats: 56GP, 15G-14A, -7, 49 PIM
The Sound Tigers' active leading scorer, St. Denis has improved upon his rookie season last year. The former Quinnipiac standout is undersized, listed at 5-7, but plays with speed and has some offensive upside that could be utilized if Bridgeport considers itself out of playoff contention in the Atlantic Division.
Forward Casey Bailey - Bridgeport 2017-18 Stats: 58GP, 12G-15A, -1, 17 PIM)
Right behind Denis on Bridgeport's leaders in scoring, Bailey is just one year removed from a 21-goal season with Binghamton. Any team looking for size up front and a reliable two-way forward would be wise to inquire about Bailey.
Forward Scott Kosmachuk - Hartford 2017-18 Stats: 60GP, 13G-23A, -14, 67 PIM
The WolfPack's leading scorer could provide a boost offensively for AHL teams seeking some help in that department. It appears Hartford is falling out of the playoff race in the Atlantic Division, so Kosmachuk might be made available.
Forward Dustin Gazley - Hershey 2017-18 Stats: 57GP, 8G-18A, +1, 42 PIM
The Bears are in last place in the Atlantic Division, so a guy like Gazley who doesn't count against the league's veteran limit could be worth adding as a guy who can provide secondary scoring support on a top-heavy AHL team seeking depth.
