The Carolina Hurricanes and Chicago Wolves, though not in an affiliation agreement, appear to have made some concessions.
It was announced that Vasili Ponomarev is joining the Wolves, but InsideAHLHockey.com has learned late Saturday night that Carolina and AHL-Chicago are in agreement to add defensemen Domenick Fensore and Griffin Mendel to the Wolves' AHL roster.
Fensore had two goals and eight assists in nine ECHL games with Norfolk to begin his pro career following his NCAA career at Boston University.
Mendel was with the Wolves last season as a rookie out of Denver University, but was also in Norfolk this season with six points (three goals, three assists) in eight games played.
UPDATE: Ronan Seeley Also Expected To Be Joining AHL's Chicago Wolves
Another defenseman, Ronan Seeley, is also expected to join AHL-Chicago from ECHL-Norfolk.
Seeley had four goals and 21 assists in 70 AHL games with the Wolves as a first-year pro last year, and he recorded two assists in Norfolk's 2-1 win in Reading Saturday night to give him three assists in 11 ECHL games to start his 2023-24 season.
