Frustrated Phantoms Fall 6-0 in Game 2 Loss to Charlotte (Series tied 1-1)
ALLENTOWN - The biggest difference between Friday night's Game 1 and tonight's Game 2 was that one team took advantage of their chances, while the other team simply did not.
The Lehigh Valley Phantoms had their chances, including six power plays and a brief two-man advantage, but had nothing to show for it. Instead, an opportunistic Charlotte Checkers team made their chances count - tallying four goals in the opening 40 minutes despite just 13 shots on net during that span - including just four total shots in the middle frame.
Things unraveled in the third period in the final minutes as frustration began to set in, as the Checkers added two power play tallies in the final minutes to complete the 6-0 blowout win.
As captain Colin McDonald said after the game, it's just one game. The team didn't stick to their game plan, or play their game, but at the end of the day it's a 1-1 split through two games of the best-of-seven series with three games in Charlotte up next on the schedule beginning with Game 3 at the Bojangles Coliseum on Tuesday night.
