GAME STORY

FIRST PERIOD

The Phantoms had three of the game's first four shots on goal, but it was the Senators taking the 1-0 lead on their first shot of the hockey game.

Mark Friedman sent a puck around the boards for Colin McDonald at the team bench, who tried to chip a puck to the middle to start a rush up ice. Instead, the puck was turned over and it was Gabriel Gagne firing a quick shot past Alex Lyon to give the Sens the game's first goal 3:11 into the contest.

Tyrell Goulbourne didn't like a hit from behind he took from Jonathan Racine, and dropped the gloves with the Belleville defender in a spirited scrap that ended when Goulbourne switched to his left hand and caught Racine by surprise.

Lehigh Valley had chances to tie the game up late in the period on a five-on-three, but were unsuccessful - including a Greg Carey attempt at what seemingly looked like an empty net. Filip Gustavsson threw his goalie stick out and made a fantastic stop to keep the Phantoms off the board heading into the middle frame.

The game seemed to be played at a much higher pace with a ton more speed than Friday night's game in Laval. The Phantoms had an 11-6 shots edge, but found themselves trailing by a goal heading into the first intermission.

SECOND PERIOD

Belleville scored early in the middle frame in similar fashion as they did in the first, with this one coming 3:29 into period two after ex-Hershey forward Paul Carey tallied his third of the year on a bit of a broken play in front.

The Phantoms took back-to-back penalties in the opening half of the period, but Alex Lyon and the penalty kill was up to the task - continuing to excel over the last five weeks.

Chris Conner scored on a goal-mouth scrum to cut the deficit in half with 7:32 left in the period, and Mike Vecchione evened things up at 2-2 late in the period - getting a backdoor feed from Colin McDonald for the game-tying goal.

THIRD PERIOD

Things seemed to slow down a bit in the third period in terms of pace, but the Phantoms threw plenty at Gustavsson in the final frame with a total of 16 shots in the period. It wasn't until Conner was tripped with 13.5 seconds left in regulation and awarded a penalty shot, that the 2-2 deadlock was broken.

Conner went with his patented five-hole move to give the Phantoms the go-ahead goal, and Taylor Leier added an empty net goal to complete the 4-2 final score.
