Hershey Bears: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly From Game 2 of 76

HERSHEY, Pennsylvania -- The Hershey Bears (0-1-1) managed a point in an overtime loss to the Providence Bruins Sunday, but after a strong opening period was followed up by two less-than-stellar periods in the final 40 minutes of regulation the reaction from the home team's locker room reaction - at least from head coach Spencer Carberry - was that of disappointment.

"Yeah, there's a lot of things, to be honest with you, that were just.. just not pretty. Not pretty. We've got a long way to go and a lot of work to be put in. We didn't even deserve a point tonight, to be frank," Carberry said. "For us to get that point, Cops made an incredible save on that 2-on-1 to keep that game tied. We were on our heels for 15 minutes of the third period."

The Good

The veteran forward tandem of Mike Sgarbossa and Matt Moulson. On the ice together as time expired on a powerplay midway through the second period, Sgarbossa fed the puck to Moulson below the goalline and got the return pass for the game-tying goal. Hershey could really benefit from this duo and linemate Joe Snively building some chemistry quickly.

The Bad

An 0-for-7 night on the powerplay, and an overall lack of shot attempts in the final 40 minutes of regulation. Hershey had their chances, but Vladar came up huge when his team needed him most, especially in the first period where the Bears peppered him with 12 shots. The Bears managed 7 shots in the second and just 3 in the third period after out shooting the Bruins 12-4 after the first frame.

The Ugly

The second period, which featured nine penalties and no powerplay goals - including 5-on-3s for both teams. Moulson, Shane Gersich (2),  Connor Hobbs, and Garrett Pilon all spent time in the sin bin. Pilon's was an extended stay (5 minutes) for attempting to fight Jeremy Lauzon.
