Player Profiles
(Subscribers) Erin Walsh kicked off her coverage of the Providence Bruins with a feature on defenseman Connor Clifton. Described by Walsh as a “fluid skater” proving to be an offensive defenseman, the second year pro is already making his case for a roster spot in Boston. Clifton tallied two assists in three games this past week, only seven less assists than his season total last year.
Our newest writer, Mark Scheig, caught up with new Cleveland Monsters forward Ryan MacInnis in his first Inside AHL Hockey post. MacInnis moved from the Arizona Coyotes system to the Columbus Blue Jackets pipeline this summer, and he couldn’t be happier about it. In an exclusive interview with Inside AHL Hockey, MacInnis discusses the trade, his summer preparations and his early impressions of his new team.
Tony Androckitis caught up with newest Lehigh Valley Phantoms defenseman Philip Samuelsson about his newest opportunity in the Philadelphia Flyers organization.
Previews & Recaps
Our North Division expert Tracey Lake took in two games this past weekend, detailing a road trip through Canada for Binghamton and a sour start to Syracuse's home game schedule at a renovated OnCenter War Memorial Arena.
While it might not feel like hockey season down south, Tom Dorsa didn’t miss a beat - providing Texas Stars fans with an in depth look into the Stars first road series of the season. Texas ended up losing both games this weekend, dropping a 4-3 decision in the shootout against Iowa and losing 5-3 to Rockford. The Stars head to Grand Rapids on Wednesday before returning home for four consecutive games.
Tony Androckitis covered the Lehigh Valley Phantoms home/away series against the Springfield Thunderbirds. The Phantoms lost the first game at home 7-0 and for those who couldn’t see the game, each period is broken down here. Tony’s takeaways look at how nothing went right Lehigh Valley on Friday, plus there are post-game reactions from captain Colin McDonald and Phil Varone.
Tony and the team traveled to Springfield for a Saturday night rematch. The Phantoms managed to fight back from a 4-2 deficit late in the third period to send the game to overtime, where German Rubtsov sealed the victory in a shootout. The game was racked with excitement, from penalties to points, and is detailed period by period here.
