Inside AHL Hockey's Weekly Wrap Up 10/8/18

Taking a look back at what you missed last week here at IAH!

Each week, we'll take a look back through all of our content from the previous week in case anyone missed anything (and with the opening week, there was a lot of news!) and to also give closure on the news stories of the week.

First off, we announced several additions to our staff over the past week. We've more than doubled our staff, and have more than tripled our team coverage in the American Hockey League (AHL) heading into the beginning of the 2018-19 season. Make sure you're following all of our writers, photographers & editors on Twitter for the latest news around the AHL!

New Staff Members & AHL Team Previews

Last week, several of our new team writers introduced themselves to Inside AHL Hockey subscribers with their first story being a roster preview of the team they will be covering this season.

Newly added Chicago Wolves and Western Conference reporter/photographer Sarah Avampato gave us this preview of the Chicago Wolves, who look to operate more smoothly in 2018-19 now that they are the sole affiliate of the Vegas Golden Knights and not a partial dual-affiliation AHL team like they were a year ago.

Tom Dorsa will be the source for everything Texas Stars this season, but he'll also be anchoring the AHL Western Conference coverage along with Sarah. Here's Tom's introductory piece previewing an AHL Stars team that has a lot of expectations heading into the season.

There will be plenty of prospects in Providence this season, and we're happy to have Erin Walsh covering the Boston Bruins prospects this season in the AHL with the Providence Bruins.

Ricky Milliner provided us with in-game updates on the Hartford WolfPack last year, but this season we've got him committed to keeping tabs on the New York Rangers top prospects playing in the AHL in downtown Hartford, Connecticut. He'll focus on monthly prospect reports for our subscribers, but introduced himself with this preview of a prospect-infused Hartford team making some early noise in the 2018-19 season.

Returning contributor Tracey Lake was in Binghamton for the Devils season-opening 7-5 win over the defending Calder Cup Champion Toronto Marlies Saturday night, and had these game notes telling a tale of a night of many firsts for the Devils. She also penned this Binghamton Devils team preview. These AHL teams in New York are her specialty!

Returning Hershey Bears correspondent Julie Beidler has also been busy in this early season. Earlier this summer, she attended the press conference for new Bears' head coach Spencer Carberry. She also put together a preview of the new-look Hershey squad prior to the start of the 2018-19 season. Our subscribers can check out Julie's latest feature on Washington Capitals top goalie prospect Ilya Samsonov, who - with help from his Bears' teammate Kris Bindulis - spoke with Julie after his AHL debut Saturday night.

Joel Vanderlaan, our Belleville Senators and AHL hockey in Canada correspondent, hit the ground running this summer with a plethora of B-Sens content ranging from a new head coach in Troy Mann to a B-Sens' full team preview.
