Monday's Catch Up & Links 9/25/17

Editor's Note: Monday means it's time to start the work week, but also time to check in and make sure you haven't missed anything in the hockey world - specifically our AHL content here at Inside AHL Hockey. Our weekly Monday story is free for all of our readers!

The NHL's regular season is right around the corner. Teams are trimming their training camp rosters and battles for NHL roster spots are coming down to the wire for some.

Meanwhile in the AHL, training camps are getting underway and AHL coaches are starting to piece together their lineups for upcoming preseason action later this week. In fact, the AHL preseason schedule begins Wednesday night with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins hosting the Hershey Bears. See the full AHL preseason schedule at the bottom of this article.

Philadelphia Flyers General Manager Ron Hextall delivered some bad news for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms Saturday, announcing that forwards Cole Bardreau (upper body) and Colin McDonald (lower body) are out with injuries. How long will they be out, and how will it affect the AHL affiliate? Details here.

On Wednesday night, the Flyers defeated the New York Islanders in overtime at the PPL Center - home to the Flyers' AHL affiliate Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Several familiar faces for Phantoms fans had big nights, including Taylor Leier and Shayne Gostisbehere.

While Inside AHL Hockey aims to be a source of information for hockey prospects across the American Hockey League (AHL), the meat and potatoes of our content initially is going to have a focus on the Flyers organization and specifically the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. We have already featured several Prospect Profile pieces over the past few weeks on several Phantoms players that our subscribers have full access to. If you're interested in subscribing for more prospect coverage this season, you can get all of the details on the Subscribe tab of this website or by clicking on the link.
