ALLENTOWN, PA -- The Lehigh Valley Phantoms (26-19-5) put forth a dominant effort in the opening 40 minutes that helped lead the way to a 5-2 win over Hartford to conclude the three-in-three weekend on a positive note.

Captain Colin McDonald and Connor Bunnaman tallied two goals each, while Corban Knight - in his first game action since October 27th - added two assists to pace the Phantoms' attack. Mike McKenna rebounded after a less-than-stellar performance in Utica Friday, stopping 33 of the 35 shots he faced to pick up the win.

POST-GAME REACTION

Head coach Kerry Huffman

On getting the win after 3 straight losses

Yeah, the guys were good. Even last night I was still pretty happy with the way we played. Sometimes you don't get the results but think back and it was two pretty good periods in Utica and just had that 5-minute span. Although it was only one win out o three on the weekend I was really encouraged with some of the things that were happening.

On the flood gates opening tonight

It's sort of one of those things that you get worried when you're not getting chances - I think that's when I get concerned - things balance out. We've been getting chances the last little while and that's the important thing.

On the power play ending a five-game goalless drought

We went through a little stretch there. Same thing, we were getting some good looks but we also had some guys over the last five games playing that weren't necessarily our top power play unit. To get all those guys back out there, T.J. feeling good and Knight in that spot. It makes the second unit a lot better and gives us some balance.

On Bunnaman's second period

Bunnaman has been real good for us all year when he's been healthy and he's really kind of found his game a little bit. We ask a lot of him - he plays on the power play and on those lines that are expected to score. He's done everything we've asked of him.

On Corban Knight

Just having him around the team, regardless of what he did on the ice, he's the type of person and player that makes everybody feel good about themselves. He's a true leader and you can't have enough of those guys in the dressing room and on the ice.
