The Utica Comets were in the midst of a 2-1 lead against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in their regular season home opener Monday night at the Adirondack Bank Center when suddenly, with 2:43 left to play in the second period, the power went out at the arena - leaving the players and fans in the dark.

Fans quickly turned the flashlights on their phones on, creating quite the scene inside the arena.

The teams and officials left the ice, while fans were instructed to remain in their seats.

Ten minutes after the outage, the Utica Comets announced via their social media channels:

"Tonight’s game has been delayed due to a local power outage. National Grid is on their way to service the issue and we will update everyone as we have information. We ask that everyone remain in their seats until further notice."

An in-arena announcement was made that the game has been postponed and will be made up at a later date.
