
ROSTER OUTLOOK: Cuts From NHL Camp Shaping Phantoms' 2019-20 Roster
ALLENTOWN, PA -- With the Lehigh Valley Phantoms' AHL training camp set to begin Monday, they could have at least 21 players - 10 forwards, nine defensemen and two goaltenders - at PPL Center when AHL camp gets underway thanks in large part to the first major round of cuts from the Philadelphia Flyers' training camp roster announced Friday evening.
The Flyers placed defensemen T.J. Brennan, Nate Prosser, Reece Willcox and Tyler Wotherspoon and forward Kyle Criscuolo on waivers Friday for the purpose of reporting to the club's AHL affiliate in Lehigh Valley.
Philadelphia also assigned the following 13 players to Lehigh Valley (AHL):
Goaltenders: Felix Sandstrom and Kirill UstimenkoDefensemen: Josh Couturier (camp invitee), David Drake (AHL) and Rob Michel (AHL)Forwards: Greg Carey (AHL), Gerry Fitzgerald (AHL), David Kase, Pascal Laberge, Cal O'Reilly (AHL), Isaac Ratcliffe, Matthew Strome and Maksim Sushko
Those 18 players will join defenseman James de Haas (AHL) and Eric Knodel (AHL) and forward Steven Swavely (AHL) - all signed to AHL deals for 2019-20 - in AHL camp next week in downtown Allentown.
Flyers Camp Roster Down to 36 Players
The Flyers' NHL roster stands at 36 players currently, which also includes injured defenseman Andy Welinski (lower body, week-to-week) and injured forwards Kurtis Gabriel (lower body, week-to-week), Nolan Patrick (upper body, week-to-week) and Tyler Pitlick (wrist).
Goaltenders (4): Carter Hart, Brian Elliott, Alex Lyon and J-F Berube
