Young Phantoms Fan Shows Hockey World What Holiday Season Is All About

ALLENTOWN - The Lehigh Valley Phantoms have a long-standing tradition after games at the PPL Center.

Each Phantoms player who is nominated as one of the game's three stars goes onto the ice for their curtain call with a signed hockey stick to give to a young fan in attendance.

After Saturday night's 4-2 win against Syracuse, third star - Phantoms forward Danick Martel - came out onto the ice and sent his stick over the glass along the sideboards and right into the hands of six-year-old Carter.

What did the young fan do with this stick after receiving it?

Of course, he decided to give it to his best friend who attended the game with him - calling it an early Christmas gift (pictured above).

Inside AHL Hockey later learned the two have been friends since pre-school, and play together on the same hockey team in the Lehigh Valley area. Certainly appears to be a memorable moment in the beginning of a long friendship.

The holiday season tends to bring out the best in people - and we usually think of good deeds by adults for others - but even young hockey fans like Carter are showing the hockey world what it's all about.

Stick taps to Carter!
